Willow Road Christian Church has served the community of Enid and the world for more than fifty years. Our goal is to introduce people to Jesus Christ and to help them discover how much God loves them. We also help people learn to apply what they read in the Bible to their daily lives. The purpose of these efforts is to help individuals reach their full potential as followers of Jesus. Some of the principles we practice are listed below.

SOME PRINCIPLES OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH

1. We call ourselves Christians or Disciples.

2. We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and our Savior.

3. We believe in the Holy Spirit, that He is active in conversion, and that He dwells in the heart of the Christian.

4. We accept the Old and New Testaments as the inspired word of God.

5. We believe God is a prayer-hearing and prayer-answering God.

6. We observe the Lord’s Supper, Communion, every Lord’s Day. We say it is the Lord’s Table, for all the Lord’s children.

7. We believe that baptism is by immersion. Those who unite by transfer of membership from other congregations or denominations are accepted into full membership on the basis of their prior Christian commitment.

8. The Bible is our only discipline. Where the Bible speaks we speak, where it is silent we are silent.

The official symbol of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a red chalice bearing a St. Andrew’s Cross. This symbol was adopted by the church’s 1971 General Assembly and is a registered trademark with the United States Patent Office.

The chalice points to the centrality of the Lord’s Supper in the life and worship of the Disciples. The Cross of St. Andrew, national cross of Scotland, focuses attention on the Presbyterian roots of the Disciples. St. Andrew has been identified with the laity and with evangelism, both of which are prominent Disciples’ emphases. The color red signifies vitality, spirit and sacrifice.
